Personalised Sessions...
Our initial sessions will be dedicated to telling your story and what brings you to counselling. We will then together identify your goals and hopes for the future and the counselling sessions will be personalised to fit your unique needs and goals.
We will work at your own pace covering whatever you choose to bring to each session. I will be there to guide and support you and together we will move forward creating a more positive future.

in a calm, safe space
Having a safe, non judgemental and accepting space is important for the counselling process to work. I have a friendly, relaxed style to help build a trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients.
For children/teenagers there are different ways to help them feel relaxed and at ease e.g. using fidget toys, arts and crafts or playing games.
CLIENT TESTIMONY
“Jo made me feel so comfortable and relaxed, I talked about things I hadn’t talked about before with anyone. I feel so much calmer and at ease in my life now. Jo helped me at a difficult time in my life, more than she will ever know.”

FAQs
What happens next?
Our initial 20 minute consultation will be an opportunity for you to explain the reasons for seeking therapy and what you hope to achieve . It is also to understand and clarify the way we will work together and begin to create a plan for your therapeutic journey. If at the end of your initial consultation, you decide to continue with counselling you will be given an agreement to read and an opportunity to discuss any further questions/concerns you have during our first session.
Is what I share in our sessions CONFIDENTIAL?
What you share in our sessions is kept private and confidential with a few exceptions. If you or another person is at risk of serious harm, or where drug trafficking, money laundering or acts of terrorism are disclosed, I am legally bound to share this information with the relevant services.
I will explain this further in our first session and you are welcome to ask me more questions about this or anything else.
Do you offer short-term and long-term counselling?
Both. Each session will ideally be at the same time each week (although there is some flexibility) and be 50 minutes in length. I offer both short-term, usually 6 weeks, or longer-term therapy. Regular review sessions can revisit this if you are not sure how many sessions you may need.
If you are looking for counselling for yourself or are a parent/carer looking for counselling for your child/teenager I recommend a review at 6 weeks.
I HAVEN’T HAD COUNSELLING BEFORE WHAT HAPPENS IN A SESSION?
Firstly, well done for taking the first step to seeking the support you or your child deserve. The first session I will invite you to tell me more about what brings you/your child to therapy and listen to your story and life experiences. There are no expectations to share anything you don't feel comfortable with - we work at your own pace. The initial sessions provides the opportunity for us to start building a trusting therapeutic relationship and to identify your goals and hopes for our sessions going forward.
